Starfield is quickly approaching its launch and anticipation is building quickly across the many internet message boards and communities. It is not surprising to me that this game is so incredibly popular among people on the internet. People have been hungry for a game of this caliber for many years and I am happy to be among the generation to experience this game. There are many questions that floating around as we eagerly await this game. One of the questions about this game is the Red Mile faction in Starfield and their purpose within the game.

Who is the Red Mile?

The Red Mile faction is mysterious at this point and we still don't know what exactly this faction is about. According to what a character said about the Red Mile in the Starfield Direct video, I believe that the Red Mile must be the equivalent of the Oblivion Arena. In the Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, there is a faction that deals with the fighting in the Arena in the Imperial city. This is one of the best newbie factions to join and complete its questline as you end up getting lots of gold in randomized encounters with powerful beasts. So I believe that the Red Mile is an Arena-oriented questline that will test the mettle of the player.

What exactly is the Red Mile Competition?

While I do not expect a complete recreation of the Oblivion arena questline but I believe that there are some very important aspects of the Red Mile competition that we should probably consider.

  1. The Red Mile competition is going to be some virtual reality competition not a physical competition. While the name Red Mile seems to evoke a 1980s movie, I believe that the Red Mile has to be something to do with virtual reality. Considering that this game takes place in 2330s, the technology must exist on some level to have photorealistic with accurate sensory experiences for competitions in a computer.
      2. The Red Mile Competition will mainly be focused on those who have a cyber runner background and not any background. Hopefully this means that other classes will have more difficulty at playing this competition. I do not want a situation where these questlines are so easily completed by any class.

     3. The Red Mile are a Cyber Runner group that has some connection to Neon. I believe that Neon is probably the Cyber Runner capital because that is where Ryujin Industries is making that in-game drug, Aurora.

Anticipation continues to grow greatly for Starfield's launch.

There isn't much information to go on with regards to the Red Mile faction, but I believe that it will be a cyber arena of some sort. That is what I think is going to happen. However, the specifics, remain quite a mystery to me. I am actually quite impressed at how Bethesda has managed to keep the details of this game under wraps for so long. It shows that they are doing a great job at keeping their content from leaking out, which in contrast to companies like Rockstar Games and their Grand Theft Auto Series.

Whatever is in the Red Mile questline, I expect that it will of a high quality and will the showcase the best of the game.
