Will Starfield tip the balance of power in favor of Xbox?

I am mostly a PC gamer and I do not touch console. Yet the world of consoles continues to interest me greatly. I see that as an important aspect of the video game industry and I believe that it very much in my interest to keep an eye on developments in that part of the medium that I love so much.

The Console Wars

The console wars really begin with the Atari 2600 and Intellivision. After that we get Nintendo's Home Entertainment System fighting Sega's Master system. Then we get into the newer generations of consoles. Some companies leave the market, like Sega. Others, like Microsoft, are relative newcomers to the medium of video games. Microsoft's Xbox was one of the most successful products of all time. With Microsoft's success and Sega's exit, the video game market is defined by a battle between three giants in the industry. Those giants are Microsoft, Sony and Nintendo. They are some of the biggest companies in the video game industry and they compete heavily with one another.

With Starfield making so much money, will it tip the balance of power into the favors of Xbox? I believe so.  The Xbox was generally successful because of the exclusivity of the Halo: Combat Evolved game, which revolutionized the first-person shooter on consoles. To this day, the Halo games are some of the most popular and successful on the platform. Is it possible for Starfield to provide a boost to the Xbox Series X? The Xbox Series X has only sold 21 million consoles, while the PS5 sold 38 million consoles. The Xbox Series X is clearly lagging behind the PS5 in sales growth. The clear issue is that Halo is no longer being able to juice up sales like it had before. The franchise has been somewhat tired and stagnant, and while it still sells well, it does not have the cultural impact that it once had when Halo 3 was released in 2007.

So, what can Starfield do for the Xbox?

Considering that Starfield is a Science-fiction game much Halo, I believe that Starfield can juice up Xbox sales. Consider that Starfield has already caused for Xbox sales to increase by 1000% on Amazon.

I am confident that Starfield will be able to juice up Xbox sales. Considering that Starfield has ample mod support and that the game is more popular on Xbox than on the PC, I expect that the game will be continuing to help sell the Xbox in the months and many years to come. I expect that this game will have a longevity similar to that of Skyrim, even more so, considering that the game has a huge amount of space and features that allow for large amounts of modding. The Xbox Series X may have just seen its first truly great hit.
